Nose: Rich, comforting, and layered with old-school character. It opens with the gentle sweetness of diluted maple syrup and the distinct, earthy aroma of an almost empty pouch of rolling tobacco. Plump sultanas and a rich cherry compote develop next, before the nose takes a slightly drier turn toward bitter walnut skins and the zesty, aromatic oil of Valencia orange pith.
Palate: The arrival is wonderfully bright and deceptively juicy. A vibrant handful of fresh raspberries, tart cranberries, and wild lingonberries leads the way, all lightly dusted with bitter powdered chocolate. From there, the dram steps squarely into a classic, old-world study: warming clove oil mixed with antique wood polish, old books, and well-worn leather chairs, all resting on a deep foundation of traditional sherried fruit.
Finish: A beautifully structured transition. The finish moves effortlessly from that juicy, mouth-watering fruity acidity into a clean, pleasantly drying, and perfectly paced conclusion.
