Here we have a sherry cask edition of our ‘An Edinburgh Dram’. Matured from birth in excellent quality sherry casks, this 17-year-old North British is our homage to Jerez de la Frontera. And, of course, Edinburgh.
Nose: Very reminiscent of navy rum – lots of dried fruits, molasses, golden syrup and a touch of treacle. Black olives and liquorice with high % dark chocolate.
Palate: This is whisky on paper but oscillates between Armagnac, rum and very high proof Oloroso. Stewed plums, raisin flambé, figs, Dairy Milk Fruit & Nut, cocoa powder, vanilla pods. Dusty Andalusian evenings.
Finish: Medium length, nicely rounded with plenty of spice and sweetness from the wood, and a final kiss of Seville oranges.
