We wanted to bring the Dornoch Castle Whisky Bar experience to the comfort of your own home. We know it can be difficult to visit Dornoch, especially in the winter months, so we’ve decided to deliver the drams to your door!
We’ve bottled samples of some of the whiskies we enjoy in our bar, as well as those that have inspired us throughout our journey at Dornoch Distillery. We hope you love them, and we look forward to welcoming you to Dornoch Castle soon.

Glenlivet Single Malt Scotch Whisky
1924 – Bottled 1930s Harvey’s of Bristol

It’s truly unique bottles like this that sparked our love for hunting old whiskies. This particular 1924 Glenlivet isn’t just rare – it’s extraordinary. The spirit itself is phenomenal: a ‘pre-war’ peated whisky that’s elegant and layered with stunning Amontillado notes, likely influenced by the maturation cask. Harvey’s of Bristol, known for filling their own casks locally, may well have been responsible for this distinctive character.
The bottle comes from the Gatty Family Estate in Cumbria. Frederick Alfred Gatty, a successful textile merchant, built his fortune during the First World War by developing a khaki dye that was adopted by the British Army. In 1929, he purchased Overwater Hall in Cumbria, where he lived until his death in 1951. Following his passing, the estate – and most of its contents – were sold at auction. Fortunately, a case of this remarkable whisky was kept by the family…
