This is the kind of whisky that makes us happy to be independent bottlers. A great example of what the right liquid, in the right casks, for the right amount of time can achieve. This has undergone a 10-year secondary maturation in a Madeira barrique. This long secondary maturation has given us great balance and depth while retaining the Islay spirit’s characteristic brightness.

Nose: Dense with maple syrup, BBQ sauce and a handful of autumnal leaves, tomato leaves and bay leaf. Oregano, walnut and boot polish, some milk chocolate. Heavy on the notes of deliciousness.

Palate: Rancio laced with black tea and liquorice root. Dried figs, umeshu, balsamic onions, and perhaps Madeira (though that might be lazy). Orange peel. Lovely acidity provides structure by balancing the sweetness of the cask.

Finish: Long and very polite. Prune and honeyed ham. Figs and pigs.
