Nose: “She sells nectarines by the seashore.” The nose is a delightful surprise, opening with lovely soft, ripe nectarines and an intriguing coastal streak – think seashells, salt-crusted driftwood, and fresh ocean breezes. It is remarkably reminiscent of an old Talisker, yet stripped of all peat and black pepper. Beneath the fruit and salt, there are complex, waxy notes of plasticine, orange peel, and the sharp, floral lift of a fresh squeeze of Amalfi lemon juice.
Palate: Unbelievably “moreish.” Despite the low ABV, the mouthfeel is elegant and incredibly drinkable. The palate leads with a citrus trio of lemon peel, dried grapefruit, and concentrated peach cocktail bitters. The American oak influence is restrained and sophisticated, offering just a touch of dry wood spice that frames the fruit rather than leading it. It is a masterclass in how a low-strength spirit can still feel full and intentional.
Finish: Surprisingly long given the ABV. It lingers on fleshy, stone-fruit notes and a delicate prickle of white pepper, before concluding on a final, clean note of well-seasoned, dried oak.
