An excellent example of the rarely spotted (as a Single Malt) Balmenach, gently matured in refill wood for over a quarter of a century… It is incredibly greasy and grippy with soft white fruits for those who go looking – Diet Clynelish? A appropriate welcome back for our Error 502 series!
Nose: Very greasy, with cold-pressed olive oil, duck fat and lemon lip balm. Some pleasant malty/ gristy notes – there is also green apple skin and ripe pears. It feels like the love child of Teaninich and Clynelish.
Palate: Begins with plenty of grip and texture. Lemon balm, apple cider vinegar, Williams Pear juice, malted barley and dried apple. Basil oil, crushed olives and citrus peels.
Finish: Grippy, with malted barley and a rich, waxy texture.
