Another excellent cask of ‘Unpeated’ Ledaig. As far as we can decipher this stock was created as blending stock to be used within Burn Stewart. The provided paperwork states ‘Unpeated Ledaig’ and the casks marked as Ledaig. We find the style quite different to Tobermory of a similar age/vintage, the spirit is definitely a lot fruiter and has a lovely coating mouthfeel. We think the production process (mainly cut points & fermentation times) were those of Ledaig but the malt was unpeated… whatever it is, we are very happy to bottle it!
This cask is split with our friends in Singapore/Indonesia.
Nose: Green apples, yeast flor, watermelon sweets, jelly beans, candle wax, tinned pears, beach pebbles, wet west coast sand, thyme flowers
Palate: Honeysuckle, nutmeg, poached pears, nougat, Cantelope melon, shaved coconut, leather wax, pebbles, proper limoncello & green apples.
Finish: Salty, quite dry & aromatic (Reisling), touches of honeysuckle, white pepper and driftwood
Non-Chill filtered and natural colour. This spirit may haze at low temperatures and under dilution.
